Meet Felipe Becerra, the artist behind Skizo, a wandering skeleton exploring the strange, beautiful, and occasionally uncomfortable experience of being alive.
For Spooktober, Felipe brought his wonderfully weird universe to our monthly Thank You card with a dark carnival design, tailored for the spooky season.

Originally from Colombia and raised in Quebec, Canada, Felipe has turned a lifelong curiosity for creating into a full-time career. His digital illustrations pair bold linework and atmospheric worlds with thoughts on existentialism, psychology, and philosophy. The result is art that might catch your eye with a skeleton, but often leaves you thinking about something much bigger.
What started with drawing during classes and sharing his work on Instagram has since grown into an independent creative business, complete with merch, stickers, storytelling, and a monthly Mail Club that sends Skizo's adventures out into the physical world.
We caught up with Felipe to talk about building a life around art, finding inspiration in other creators, the story behind Skizo, and why sometimes the best advice really is as simple as: just make art.
StickerApp: Hi, Felipe! We're so happy to announce you as our October Artist of the Month. Tell us about yourself: Who is Felipe?
Skizo: My name is Felipe Becerra. I'm 25 years old, originally from Colombia, but I grew up in Quebec, Canada. My biggest dream has always been to make a living from my art. As long as I get to wake up every day and create, I feel like I'm already living my dream life. I’ve always been scared of living a life that doesn't feel “fun,” and being able to draw for a living is such a fun and exciting thing to do.
I'm a self-taught artist who's a little obsessed with learning and improving. Ever since I was a kid, I was always trying new hobbies, learning new skills, or playing video games. That curiosity has never really left me, and I think it's one of the biggest reasons I've been able to grow as an artist.
StickerApp: Love this! Tell us about your creative journey. How did it begin?
Skizo: I've loved creating things for as long as I can remember. As a kid I was always making papercrafts, playing with Play-Doh, or drawing, although they were just a few of my many hobbies.
Things became more serious around 2017–2018 when I started drawing during classes at school. It was my way of staying awake while still listening to the lesson. I'd spend hours looking at images on Pinterest and challenging myself to recreate them as accurately as possible. Eventually, I stopped copying references and began creating my own illustrations.
My friends kept telling me to post my drawings on Instagram, and one of them eventually convinced me to create an account. I never expected strangers to enjoy my work, but seeing people connect with my art through likes, comments, and messages motivated me to keep creating every single day. Looking back, that was the beginning of everything.

StickerApp: Gotta love a good friend's advice! Was there a pivotal moment in your career that completely changed its direction?
Skizo: When COVID hit, I decided to invest all of my savings into opening my own online merch store. That was the moment I realized this hobby could actually become a real career.
After running the store for about a year, I made the difficult decision to leave university and pursue art full-time. Since then, I've constantly challenged myself by exploring new mediums, creating new products, and learning new skills. It hasn't always been easy, but every challenge has helped shape me into the artist I am today.
StickerApp: Amazing! What or who drives you forward as an artist and creator? What are your biggest inspirations?
Skizo: Other artists on Instagram are my biggest source of motivation.
Since I started posting my work in 2017, I've followed artists whose work inspired me and pushed me to improve. My Instagram feed is intentionally filled with art because seeing incredible work every day reminds me of what's possible and motivates me to keep learning. So instead of filling my Instagram feed with memes and useless stuff, I make sure it's always filled with art and creativity to keep me motivated.
StickerApp: That's very wholesome. What's your number one piece of advice for those starting their creative journey?
Skizo: Just make art. Pick something you genuinely enjoy, something you know you'll never get tired of, and keep doing it without worrying too much about the results.
Improvement comes naturally through repetition. Nobody is amazing on their first attempt, and that's completely okay. Focus on improving just one small thing every time you create something new. If you keep showing up consistently, you'll be surprised by how far you can go.
StickerApp: How would you define your style, and what are your favourite techniques?
Skizo: I create digital illustrations where my skeleton, Skizo, wanders through a beautiful and strange world.
I love pairing my artwork with short reflections about existentialism, psychology, and philosophy. Thoughts that explore the uncomfortable, beautiful, and sometimes confusing experience of being alive. My goal isn't just to create something visually interesting, but to make people pause for a moment and reflect.

StickerApp: Cool! Tell us about the design of your October Thank You card. What was your inspiration?
Skizo: I wanted to create something spooky and visually interesting for October without relying on the classic pumpkins and ghosts.
Instead, I chose a dark carnival theme that feels mysterious and unsettling while still fitting my own artistic style.
StickerApp: Creepy indeed! How do you use stickers for your business and personal brand?
Skizo: Stickers have been at the centre of my business ever since I started selling my artwork online. They're one of the best ways to turn digital art into something people can actually interact with. People decorate their laptops, water bottles, notebooks, and desks, give them as gifts, or collect them.
Because my illustrations have bold linework and strong silhouettes, they translate really well into stickers. I love seeing people use them to add a little personality and creativity to their everyday objects.
StickerApp: You legend! Why do you choose StickerApp as your sticker partner?
Skizo: Quality has always been incredibly important to me because I want my artwork to be displayed on products that feel just as special as the illustrations themselves.
StickerApp consistently delivers amazing print quality, but beyond that, the ordering experience is one of the best I've used. The website is intuitive, the editor is easy to use, and the whole process is smooth from start to finish. As someone who runs a business, that simplicity saves a lot of time and makes creating new products much easier.
StickerApp: Thank you so much for the kind words! Lastly, what are your goals moving forward?
Skizo: Right now, my biggest focus is my Mail Club.
I wanted to create a way for people to experience my art beyond a screen, so every month I create a brand-new illustration and pair it with exclusive stickers and a letter written from the perspective of my skeleton character, Skizo. It's as if he's writing directly to you from one of his adventures.
Stickers play a huge role in that experience; they're souvenirs from the places Skizo visits or meaningful objects he discovers along the way. They help bring each story to life.
It's not a fantasy world filled with magic or heroes. Instead, Skizo wanders through a quiet, abandoned world, discovering beautiful places while reflecting on life, loneliness, purpose, and the strange emotions that come with being alive.
This Mail Club has become the most meaningful project I've ever worked on because it combines everything I love: storytelling, illustration, world-building, and physical products. And knowing that hundreds of people look forward to receiving a new story, artwork, stickers, and a letter every month is incredibly rewarding, and it's where I'm investing most of my creative energy today.
